사바 의 미니한국

Wow! Skin Food is here! Here is Kota Kinabalu, Sabah!

This trip back home, I have discovered that there are more Korean stuffs in Sabah. I won't be suprised if there are lots of Korean in Singapore or other parts of the world, but I am definitely in awe that Korean actually residing in KK (Kota Kinabalu) and making here their second home if not their first home.

Last check, Korean Air has six and Asiana Airlines has four direct flights from Kota Kinabalu to Incheon weekly. This has brought tens of thousands of Korean tourists and Korean goods and services to KK.

To date, we only have one Korean minimart which provides basic Korean food supply, but we have five Korean 식당 (restaurant) which offers simple food like 라면 (Korean noodle) to quality cuisine like 삼계탕 (ginseng chicken). One of the restaurant even name itself as 대장금 (Dae Jang Geum,大長今). The number of Korean restaurant seems catching up to Japanese restaurant. By the way, there is one 노래방(Korean Karaoke) situated nearby the Korean minimart

[Made in Korea 여자 액세서리스 (Ladies accessories), this outlet isn't it looked like one of those in 동대몬(Dongdaemun,东大门)?]

[First Korean language and cultural school opened recently in KK]

Latest hot stuff is Paradise Reflexology & Therapy Centre, whollly owned by Korean and provides Korean type therapies, they even have 찜질방(Korean style sauna). This centre opened since early February and located next to Port of Kota Kinabalu. I have forgotten to take photo after two hours of massage, Oh 시왼하다!

Gaya Street Weekend Street Market

Gaya Street weekend street market is held every Sunday in the heart of Kota Kinabalu town. The market is opened from early morning till pass noon. I have not patronised Gaya Street Market for a very long time. Since I was home for the Lunar New Year holiday, I have decided to get up early in morning and tried to get back some good old times memory.

Tourists from European countries, America, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Korea will make this market as one of their itineraries. Many local products are sold here. Goods are sold relatively cheap here, thus even Sabahan will like to visit this market once in a while.

[I am not sure whether these sea shells are genuine, but I know these are protected though :p]

[Local artists' work, their usual subjects are about Mount Kinabalu, Hibiscus, paddy field and etc]

[Famous handicrafts and batik]

[Coffee powder seller, I could smell the nice aroma from far]
